Day 1- Goals

Day one on the journey to a healthier me starts at 3am! In this entry, I will set the goals I wish to accomplish for myself. I have quite a few that I need to work on. Me being up at 3am is one of those!

What is it I want to achieve with this blog? Well, I would like to keep track of getting healthy, getting into a better place physically and just generally expressing my thoughts and feelings during this time. I would like to have feed back from my readers (should I actually get any of those), and perhaps challenge or inspire them to get into the spirit of getting healthy as well.

In general, my overall goals are to loose weight, eat healthier, lower my blood sugar to try to conquer my diabetes, and just feel better! I will write about what I am trying out in order to accomplish these goals, recipes I find that are really tasty, and exercises that work for me. I am open to opinions, suggestions and ideas from my readers.

So, all that being said, my goals are as follows:

  1. Fix my sleep schedule! I want it to be where I am up in the morning and asleep at night, instead of the opposite, where it is now. I would like to be up at a decent hour, maybe around 7 - 8am or so.
  2. Get into a daily routine! I am super bad at this and have a lot of work to do to get this established. Any tips and tricks are welcome for this!
  3. Eat better! I need to learn portion control, count carbs better and so on, cutting out all the bad for me processed or heavily sugared foods. I already do pretty good about not using preprepared foods and meals, so mostly working on healthier diabetic friendly foods and portions.
  4. Get active! I am not very active and it shows. When just walking around the mall makes my body ache the next day, its time to get active! I would like to add morning yoga to my daily routines, and lots of walking to start. My little dog, Ozzy, will love this part of things! He loves walks! After I get more used to moving around, start increasing my daily activities, maybe start running or adding in an exercise routine.
  5. Loose weight! I want to loose 20 - 30 pounds, get rid of this belly of mine, which in the long run will help with the next goal.
  6. Lower my Diabetic A1C numbers! I want to get my blood sugar under control and accomplishing each of the goals I have will help me to get this done! My current numbers are far too high and I already know that I can do it with out meds if I just get with it and stick to it, I've done it before.
I am sure over the next few days, I will come up more goals, and they will all change or shift depending on how life is going at the time. I am sure I will have off days, where I just don't care, and days where I am really into all of this! I will document it all! Later today, when my husband is awake, I will get him to help me take a picture of myself and I will post it.

I warn you, it will not be pretty!

In that post, I will talk about my current weight and all the starting numbers and info's. I will also put in links to my fitbit and myfitnesspal pages, feel free to friend me on those if you have them! Please, all the encouragement I can get, I will take!

For now, I am going to go and take a nice hot shower to soothe me and help lull me to sleep, and then try and get up in a few hours. We will see how this goes!

Ta ta for now!
